Built From Firsthand Knowledge
Shaunna started as a bike fitter at Velosync, working with riders of all levels. Over time, she noticed the same issue again and again. Many clients came in with bikes they had bought on sale, sometimes at up to 50% off, thinking they had made a great deal. But the bikes didn’t fit them.
The result was always similar. Riders either had to sell the bike and start over, or spend hundreds or thousands of dollars swapping parts like saddles, stems, handlebars, and cranks just to make it work. Even full-price bikes often needed costly changes to truly fit.
The problem wasn’t the rider. It was the industry. Most bikes are built to protect profit margins, with standardized sizing and components chosen for efficiency, not for you. That makes finding a perfect bike off the rack almost impossible.
So Shaunna asked a simple question. Why not build the bike around the rider from the start?
The challenge was cost. Custom builds through brands like Specialized, Cervélo, or Trek were far more expensive than buying a similar bike off the shelf.
The breakthrough came from working with high-end Chinese manufacturers, many of whom previously produced for major global brands. They offered the same performance, engineering, and quality, without the inflated pricing.
This made it possible to build fully custom bikes from the ground up, tailored to each rider, while still delivering better value than off-the-rack options.
Velosync, originally a fit-focused studio, evolved from this idea. Today, we offer both precision bike fitting and fully custom builds, so every rider gets a bike that truly fits, performs, and delivers unmatched value.
